Hair: glossy black, straight and long to her mid back. Often in a messy braid when working.
Eyes: light amber brown
Dress Style: Working to Middle class average daywear, lab wear is heavy apron, gloves, etc.
Distinguishing Features: None really.
Notable Possessions: Camera
General Attitude: Casual, friendly, unwilling to get too uptight about anything, except work.
General Impression: Curious person that seems to easily get caught up in things.

Additional Physical Description: She's shorter than average, middling bone structure that allows her to carry a little extra weight and but still seem solid rather than overweight. Blockier shaped, round faced and with a hook to her nose that bothers her when she looks in the mirror. Her skin is dark with dappling on her limbs.
Distinguishing Features: None really. A few nondescript moles you shouldn't be able to see in polite company anyway.
Manner of Movement: Steady but eager, interested.
Physical Health: Fairly healthy constitution
Mental Health: Life has been pretty normal to date. That's both comfortable... and boring.
Positive Traits: Open to experiencing most things, and pretty accepting of others.
Negative Traits: Can get in over her head. Spends money too easily. Disregards rules.
Quirks & Habits: taking notes, getting distracted from her planned activities
Vices: She'll drink what you're drinking.

#2 Shadowy - Able to sneak up on a bird and get its photograph without disturbing it. Not against getting past the barriers to experience life.
What are your weaknesses? Do you have a ‘Dump Stat’? Persuasive - While friendly, she's just not alluring really.

Enemies: The man who paid for her to relocate to the Neath isn't a very nice guy, really. He also, unknown to her, doesn't work alone, and doesn't work for himself.
Ambition: Success! Wait, that wasn't what you wanted, right?
Other Goals: Pay off her debt and make enough money to explore the Neath and take pictures everywhere. Maybe a few pictures would sell. Considering her job is extremely low paying, that might be a long time coming.
Finance: She's a journeyman lens grinder, which doens't pay very well. So she's going to have to pick up additional work to pay off her debt before it's called in. She has some photographs and a bunch of plates left so perhaps she can sell some photographs or photography. Since her mother isn't here to disapprove, she might try less respectable work as well.
Residence: Currently, she's been given the name of an inn where she could stay until she finds cheap lodgings.
Notable Possessions: Dorothea, tools.
Favoured Weapon: Fists, if she had to. No experience with anything else.
Combat Style: Slipping out to avoid the fight.

Background
Life Before London: She comes from a lower middle class family, father, mother and two sisters, Gertie and Claire. Her sister's husband Joseph helped her get an apprenticeship to learn to grind lenses in the larger town nearby (where she could stay with her sister Gertie, their two kids, and Joseph during her training), since she wasn't doing too well in the 'get married' department.  Grinding lenses led her to learn about cameras, and the extra money she made doing odd jobs was often spent on supplies to make her own camera, and then, on camera supplies. Her free time from the apprenticeship, travel to and from the apprenticeship, watching the kids, and household chores was largely practicing taking photos around the village and countryside.
How did you Fall?: Joseph also helped her find her first job - a position at Lentry's Optics of London. It was a big opportunity, but she couldn't pay for the relocation. She managed to secure a loan from a moneylender who had operations in the Neath, with the promise of taking some photographs for him and paying him back in the months after her relocation, with interest.
A Brief History of Life in London: Came down, work just chugging along.  She's making her payments, barely, but the interest in the world around her is starting to press in on her responsibilities.
Religion: Non devout Church of England
Occupation: Lens grinder at present. Or, you know, whatever you need that will pay her debts.
Hobbies & Interests: She's become fixated on photography. It's her passion to play with how the light hits, and changes lenses for different effects. She's also fairly good at puzzles and mind teasers. She's not afraid to try anything, once. Maybe twice.

Talents: Framing up a shot, sniffing out an adventure

Education: Went to a local one room schoolhouse from age 7 to 11. Reading, Writing, Arithmetic. It was enough to get her started in studying on her own for anything more advanced, math being of interest.  Once she was returned to home, she helped her mother in the laundry service until she was 18. Once it seemed that people weren't looking for her as their wife, she sought out an apprenticeship for lens grinding so that she wouldn't be stuck doing laundry her whole life.  She apprenticed with Mr Terrence Godey in lens grinding, and finished her apprenticeship when she was 25.
Languages: English of course.
Family: Mum (Aparna Whipple nee Chandrasekhar) and Dad (Herbert Whipple), eldest sister, Gertrude who is married to Joseph Farthingwell and have two kids, Sarah and Thomas, Claire (Mary Claire), Jasper, Ines (Mary Ines), Lilly. Delphine is the second child of six.  Mother washes clothing for money, Father is a bookkeeper.  Cat: Hepzibah

The Relationship Stuff

Relationship Status: She's not walking out with anyone, or even interested. Not for lack of interest on her part, just lack of time and interest on other people's parts.
Sexual Orientation: Both men and women can be beautiful, but she's not had much opportunity to be exploring that.
Anything Else?: We shall see.

Sentient Nonhumans? Everyone has feelings....right?
What about Tomb-Colonists? That is...a really strange concept that I'm going to have to get used to.
Devils and Hell? Wait, what?
The Masters? Erm, you mean the Constables?
The Bazaar? Shopping sounds fun, but she doesn't really have the money.
Social Issues? (sexism/racism/classism.....) You know, each to their own, right? But she can't see the good in keeping anyone from doing what they want to do. All people being better is better, right?
Religion? It's just what you do.
Temperance? Who minds an occasional tipple? Not me!

How would Delphine sit in a room?

Delphine looks for a good vantage point seat, where she can see all the things, but doesn't need to be seen. Preferrably comfortable. She has a forward lean, tapping her toes in little rhythms, sometimes random, sometimes in time with the person speaking.

If she were in a comfortable setting with a friend, she would be open to sitting on the floor.

Born (presumably) and lived in Childwall. Apprenticed in Liverpool while staying with her Sister's family there.

Can grind lenses for all sorts of things - spyglasses, glasses, cameras, lorgnettes, secret spyglasses, goggles, telescopes, microscopes, watch faces, etc.

There is no major difference in principle between a lens used for a still camera, a video camera, a telescope, a microscope, or other apparatus, but the detailed design and construction are different. A lens may be permanently fixed to a camera, or it may be interchangeable with lenses of different focal lengths, apertures, and other properties.

It's a Number Five Folding, which is a bit old now. It's been refurbished with a plate holder too, and the lenses are a little different - they are mine. I'm really quite fortunate to have it--normally I couldn't afford such a thing at all, but this one came in through a shop that obtained some American gentleman's baggage who fell overboard at sea on his way to Britain - I know, just terrible. Well, I happened to have a friend who visited the shop often, my brother in law actually, and he saw it there and told me about it. Childwall, as close as it is to Liverpool, is sort of sleepy, and I was able to haggle them down a bit since it didn't have its lenses and the bellows needed repairs---well--."
